You are welcome to the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) Technical Committee on Collaboration website.
On this website, you will find information about ACDE, the vision and mission, history, structure and management.
There is information on the two main committees of the ACDE, namely the Technical Committee on Collaboration and the Technical Committee on Quality Assurance and Accreditation. The objectives, activities and outputs of each of the committees are given in detail. Institutions which are interested in joining the ACDE Committee on Collaboration are encouraged to apply to the Executive Director of the ACDE or the Director of the Technical Committee on Collaboration. ACDE Technical Committee on Collaboration (TCC)
ACDE TCC Establishment:
- ACDE Stakeholders Workshop held in UNISA (February, 2008): Approved the establishment of a Consortium of African ODL Universities and a Continental Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency and hence formation of two Working Groups (Now Technical Committees): The Consortium Working Group and the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Working Group. The Working Groups were tasked to: Develop Comprehensive Plans of Action and Project Proposals for the establishment of Consortium program and the Quality Assurance and Accreditation programme.
- The ACDE Conference and General assembly(held in Lagos in July, 2008) adopted the stakeholders workshop recommendations on the formation of the two Working Groups
- The ACDE Planning and Project Development Workshop held at the ACDE Secretariat in Nairobi (August, 2008) for the two Working Groups and hence the project proposal for the ATCC. The project proposal or the establishment of ATCC was presented at the Special ACDE Executive Board Meeting held on 27 October, 2008.
- Purpose of establishing the ATCC: Serve to ensure that there is no duplication of efforts in development of materials, cost effective ODL; provide a focal point for synchronizing ODL initiatives and activities in Africa; help stimulate production of materials by African academicians; develop institutional capacity to produce high quality ODL courses and programmes; build confidence amongst African academics in their ability to produce contextualized world class resources; utilize guidelines on Quality Assurance developed by ACDE Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency.
