The Directorate of Planning and Development is one of the five Directorates of the Open University of Tanzania. The fundamental objectives of DPD are to innovate, initiate, coordinate, implement, appraise, monitor and document all development projects and other pertinent strategic issues that the University employs in order to achieve its mission and vision effectively in the foreseeable future.
The DPD is the chief custodian of the University’s Rolling Strategic Plan (RSP) 2008/09-2012/2013. The underlying objective of RSP focuses on strengthening the existing Institution’s delivery capacity with a view to ameliorate and refine the quality of OUT’s programs as the means to accelerate social progress, cultural transformation and genuine economic welfare of Tanzanians and beyond.
Moreover, the RSP serves as a toolkit for harmonizing and maximizing the effective utilization of available resources with clear priorities for actions and investments. It also forms the bedrock for attracting and mobilizing strategic funding for the operation of the University’s activities from the Government of Tanzania and other development partners around the world.
The DPD is divided into three major sections, viz: Planning, Statistics and Real Estate Development. It is headed by the Director who is assisted by a team of highly dedicated and diligent staff. The DPD operates under the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
