E-learning

E-Learning Technology is rapid changing to cater the need of the rapid population growth, making Learning Management systems (LMS) to change from time to time in order to accommodate the need of the learning institutions. The rapid change of Technology has increased pressure to learning institutions, in need to implement LMS, making them to migrate from one LMS to another within very short time frame, this is the case of OUT, where by it has moved from A-Tutor to Moodle LMS.

Learning Management System

Learning Management system chosen by a learning institution at OUT have meet two criteria; first the host institution learning requirements, for our case is OUT online learning requirements which should satisfy five pillars of quality in online education Student satisfaction.

Projects

Open University of Tanzania recently has received funding from SPIDER for the Initial establishment of e-learning centre in Tanzania for which will be situated within OUT. The Centre intends to offer an innovative and flexible means to support and enable quality learning and teaching within OUT and other Universities and Colleges. The project aims at building capacity for academic staff and then the students.

OUT has also received funds for the same purpose under SIDA ICT capacity building project where by this project is going to take off immediately after the completion of SPIDER project.
