Certificate Programme in Kiswahili for Foreigners (CPKF)

The Open University of Tanzania offers affordable, innovative, relevant and quality non-degree and degrees programmes in an enabling environment for integrated continuous learning for students and its staff. Swahili for Foreigners is one of the non-degrees programmes offered for foreigners who are interested in the Swahili language and culture for different purposes. This course targets the following categories of people: College student interested in African studies, anyone intending to do research in East Africa, any expatriate residing and working in East Africa and a foreigner who intends to live in East Africa for a considerable amount of time. Group courses run between April and September and January and March for groups. Individualized courses can start any time of the year. Our course objectives are SMART to ensure that our students are capable of conversing in Swahili at a near-native speaker level by the end of the course. At the end of the course, there will be an optional oral and written test. Students who pass the test will be awarded The Swahili Proficiency Certificate plus a Certificate of Attendance. Those who do not need a proficiency certificate will be awarded a certificate of attendance and will not be required to sit for the proficiency test.
