INTERNATIONAL ASTEROID DAY – 30 JUNE 2023

Introduction

Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) in collaboration with The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is organizing The 2nd International Conference on Astrotourism: Promoting Tanzania Destination through astrotourism and Cultural Heritage which will be held from 29th June 2023 at Songwe Hill Motel in Songwe Region in Tanzania. The 1st International Conference was organized by the Open University of Tanzania in collaboration with the Songwe regional administration on 30th June 2017.

This event is one of the series of events towards the commemoration of World Meteorological Day, which is going to take place on 30th June, 2023. Why Songwe? The Mbozi meteorite is found in Songwe region 70 kilometers west of Mbeya, off the road to Tunduma, and it weighs 12 tons, making it the world’s eighth-largest known meteorite.

Conference Venue

The venue is located in Songwe Region, Tanzania about 4.5 Km from Songwe Airport. It is among the leading conference venues in Southern Tourist Circuit in Tanzania with 24/7 security.

The venue is in proximity to the Kitulo National Park which has more than 300 different species of flowers and is nicknamed as “The Garden of God” or “Flowers of Serengeti” due to its rich diversity of rare flowers and other plants as well as opportunities for hiking and waterfalls visits. Also, there is Lake Ngozi, which is the second largest Crater Lake in Africa.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and must include;

  • Title, sub-theme, names of authors, institution affiliation, e-mail address
    and cell phone numbers
  • Context, Objectives, Methodology, Findings, Implication, Conclusion,
    Recommendations, and not more than five Keywords.
  • To present your paper, the abstract must pass a double-blind peer review
    first and the decision on the outcome will be communicated to you within
    2 weeks. Upon registration, you will be invited as a participant but you
    will be considered for presentation once your abstract has been accepted.
  • Use font type New Times Roman, Size 12 and 1.5 line spacing
  • Papers are expected to have a uniform format with a maximum of 20 pages including references,appendices, figures etc.

The fee will carter for venue, breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and evening tea only

Post Conference Tour

Participants will be linked to some credible Tour Operators to visit tourist attractions in Songwe or nearby areas of their choice at their own cost.

Accommodation

In Songwe, accommodation rates range fromUS$20 – US$100 including bed and breakfast.
