Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work(PGDSW)

The need for social workers at advanced level is so demanding in many developing countries including Tanzania.

This is particularly because of the increasing of multifaceted problems due to local and international forces that affect the majority of the people specifically the vulnerable groups as far as their social wellbeing is concerned. Given the increasing nature of social problems which include poverty, diseases, unemployment, political unrest and social dysfunctions, and limited number of professional social workers, there is a dire need for training professional social workers to address the aforementioned gap.

In response to desperate need of professional social workers, the Department of Sociology and Social Work has designed a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work (PGDSW) programme specifically for students who basically do not have social work background at the bachelor’s degree/advanced diploma levels that aspire for Master of Social Work (Hybrid mode) an online programme conducted for one year.
