The Directorate of Planning and Development was established in August 2008 to replace the Planning Unit which had existed since 1995, in order to strengthen strategic planning and development activities in the University.  The Directorate is one of the key functional units of the University as illustrated by institution’s organizational structure on figure 2.1. The Directorate of Planning and Development is located in the 9^th floor of the ODEL Tower and is guided by the Open University of Tanzania’s Rolling Strategic Plan (RSP) of 2013/14-2017/18, a tool for institutional transformation.

Establishment

The Directorate of Planning and Development was established in August 2008 to replace the  Planning Unit which had existed since 1995, in order to strengthen strategic planning in the University. The Directorate operates under the office of the Vice-Chancellor.

Mission

To spearhead institutional transformation in line with the University Charter and Rule 2007, through initiating processes of policy development, analysis and reviews as well as developing a strategic plan at institutions, faculty and institute level.
